February 14, 2013 in Kiev, in the framework of the National Consultations on the Post-2015 Development Agenda the leading scientists of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine (NASU) discussed the strategic vision for the future development.

February 14, 2013 in Kiev, in the framework of the National Consultations on the Post-2015 Development Agenda the leading scientists of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine (NASU) discussed the strategic vision for the future development.

Over 60 experts from various scientific institutions of Ukraine took part in the discussion of strategic priorities for social development. Academic of NASU, Director of the Institute of Demography and Social Studies named after Ptoukha of NASU - Ella Libanova noted that "... a vision of future development of Ukraine should take into account both global development priorities, and science-based predictions of socio-economic development directions of the country." Olga Balakireva, Head of Department of the Institute of Economics and Forecasting of NASU of Ukraine, Chairman of the Board of the Ukrainian Institute of Social Research named after O.Yaremenko outlined the thematic spheres of the global discussion of the Development Agenda, namely: Inequality, Health, Education, Demographic Situation, Economic Growth and Employment, Energy, Water, Environmental Balance, Management, Food Security, Conflicts Prevention. Tatiana Yefimenko, Corresponding Member of the National Academy of Sciences, President of the Academy of Financial Management said that "... the slow post-crisis recovery of the world economy makes the need to change the model of economic development. Lack of capital in the banking sector to credit the economy and increasing pressure on the budget sphere are the factors of enhancing risks for increased social spending. "

The identified by the participants of the discussion major tasks for medium-term perspective are: social justice, determination of the national development model, increasing the competitiveness, creating new high-tech jobs, the introduction of innovative technologies and reducing energy and material consumption. 

The results of National Consultations in Ukraine will serve as a basis for the development of the National Report "Ukraine: The Post-2015 Development Agenda." Work to identify areas of the Post-2015 Development Agenda was initiated by UN agencies and the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade of Ukraine and leading institutes of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine.
