20 November 2013 - On the Universal Children’s Day, UNICEF and the Ukrainian Post (Ukrpochta) awarded the children-winners of the All-Ukrainian contest “Draw Your Rights!” during the ceremony in Kyiv.

This initiative aimed at drawing public attention to children and the importance of their rights realization in Ukraine. It was launched on 1 June 2013 with the support from the Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine Oleksandr Vilkul.

During this 4-month project, children from all over Ukraine submitted 614 pictures. The winner of the competition is Anastasiia Oliinyk (15 y.o.) from Lviv. Her drawing will be printed on a post stamp to be produced by Ukrposhta in 2014. The second winner is Anastasiia Vinohradova (12 y.o.) from Kirovohrad, whose drawing “I have the right to happy life” will be used for the Ukrposhta envelope next year.

“Children drew their main right – right to happy life. And we must ensure the realization of this right for every child in Ukraine”, stated Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine Oleksandr Vilkul during the ceremony.

All children who took part in a contest were awarded with diplomas and thank you letters. Ten children from all over Ukraine, whose pictures were considered the best, were awarded with prizes and gifts by Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine Oleksandr Vilkul and UNICEF Representative in Ukraine Yukie Mokuo.

“Two billion children live in the world, and eight million of them are young Ukrainians. Over 600 Ukrainian children took part in the contest “Draw Your Rights”. UNICEF is proud of being partner to Ukrposhta in drawing public attention to protection of children’s rights. We hope to continue our cooperation to encourage creativity and self-expression of children and adolescents”, stated UNICEF Representative in Ukraine Yukie Mokuo. “Children, do learn more about your rights and become active citizens of Ukraine!”, added Y.Mokuo addressing the winners of the contest.

General Director of Ukrposhta Kostiantyn Kryvenko expressed gratitude to all participants of the initiative and noted that such contests should become a good tradition.

“Ukrposhta is a socially responsible company, therefore we try our best to support and promote creativity of children. We will sustain our partnership with UNICEF on running the initiatives alike, aspiring to grant joy and self-belief to more and more children”, pointed out Kostiantyn Kryvenko.
