25 November 2015 – UN in Ukraine jointly with the Government, Parliament of Ukraine and civil society representatives will hold a press-briefing in the UN House to mark the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women and launch the national-wide information campaign “16 Days of Activism” against Gender-based Violence.

On 25 November, we will commemorate the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women. It will kick off the 16 days of global activism against Gender-based Violence, until 10 December, Human Rights Day, to halt this gross violation of women’s human rights that affects at least 1 in 3 women and girls in Ukraine and worldwide. It is a pandemic that we must stop. To do so, we need your help.

A part of the United Nations Secretary General’s Campaign UNiTE to End Violence against Women, the 16 Days of Activism calls upon activists, governments, parliaments, civil society organizations and UN partners to mobilize people and highlight issues relevant to preventing and ending violence against women and girls.

In Ukraine during the 16 days of activism, events will be organized in all parts of the country to draw attention to the issue and stimulate action.
