7 February 2017  – Ukraine’s record on women’s rights will be examined by the UN Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW) on 14 February. Ukraine has ratified the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women and so is reviewed regularly by the Committee on how it is implementing the Convention.

KYIV/GENEVA (8 December 2016) – Failure by the parties to the conflict in eastern Ukraine to implement the Minsk Agreements has continued to result in a host of human rights violations for civilians, particularly those living close to the ‘contact line’ between Government-controlled and armed group-controlled territory in the Donetsk and Luhansk regions, according to a UN report released on Thursday.

2 December 2016. On the occasion of the International Day for the Abolition of Slavery, IOM has opened a public art installation – DIMENSIONS3 – in Kiev, Ukraine. The installation aims to alert Ukrainians to the issue and motivate them to join the fight against human trafficking – a form of modern day slavery. 5 December 2016, Kyiv – The Humanitarian Country Team, together with the Ministry for the Temporarily Occupied Territories and IDPs, today launched the 2017 Humanitarian Response Plan for Ukraine and appealed to the donors to contribute to the US$ 214 million requested to address the most pressing needs of 2.6 million of the most vulnerable people out of an estimated 3.8 million people in need of humanitarian assistance.

25 November 2016. Geneva/Kyiv.  The UN High Commissioner for Refugees Filippo Grandi has appealed to all parties involved in the conflict in Ukraine to improve freedom of movement at check points for people living near the line of contact and to allow humanitarian aid to reach hundreds of thousands of people affected by conflict in government and non-government controlled areas.

25 November 2016 - The International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women and launch the national-wide information campaign “16 Days of Activism” against Gender-based Violence. 

24 November 2016 – UN Development Programme (UNDP) in Ukraine launched a nationwide campaign to foster mutual understanding, inclusion and social cohesion in Ukraine's communities. The campaign will also raise awareness about the challenges and hardships that Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) face when seeking housing, employment and a place in their new community.

24 November 2016, Kyiv - FORUM ON YOUTH 2017 “The role of youth in poverty eradication and promoting prosperity in a changing world” that will be held 30-31 January 2017.The Youth Forum brought young leaders from around the world to the UN Headquarters in New York. It is a platform for youth to engage in dialogue with Member States and contribute to policy formulation on global economic, social and environmental issues.
